Greetings!

My name is Natalya Misyuk.

I am from Crimea, but I have been living in Lviv since 2014. I am the author of the project “Let's Make Text,” which makes people fall in love with the Ukrainian language.

I also won Scholarship of the President of Ukraine for young writers

What kind of book is this?

01

“Adventure Handbook”

This is a story with a fascinating plot, which weaves together the main differences between the Ukrainian language and Russian.

02

Published in 2024

  • Publishing house “Mamino”

  • 126 pages

  • hardcover

  • large color illustrations

03

For ages 10+

It will be most useful and interesting for people who, as it turns out, spoke Russian before. Like I once did too.

“Something wonderful happened to me!”

— I want people to describe their transition to speaking Ukrainian in this way. That is why we made the book beautiful, large-format, with illustrations and initials. By the way, the illustrator Olena Vasina is from Donetsk.

Characters

The cat Murmurare (according to one version, the modern words “mova” was formed from Latin word "murmurare") finds himself in a world where four witches live.

Numeral, Noun, Mrs. Plural — these are all characters in the book. Each of them has their own appearance, habits, and even quirks.

“Even if you have spoken Ukrainian since childhood, this book will contain many linguistic discoveries or at least logical explanations for you. If you are just in the process of this exciting journey – the transition from the imposed language to your native language – you are generally lucky. Because all these differences in endings, the correct use of cases and the formation of the plural form will no longer scare you. This is a book-game in which both schoolchildren and their adult wards will find something for themselves."

Tetyana Honchenko, author of the book
Telegram channel “Indefatigable Book Reader”

I have never come across such a touching, exciting and at the same time very understandable book about the Ukrainian language. Sounds that are brewing in a pot, Adjective-artist who describes what he sees, "Г" of the 1993 harvest... And all this in modern settings: with Google, cappuccino, navigator... It's like witchcraft language magic and at the same time a world understandable to teenagers. And at the end I just cried -
this is very sweetly written!

Recognition

The book was recognized as the best in the “Children's World” nomination at the exhibition-forum in Odessa.

The book also managed to garner positive reviews from readers and many reviews in the media and blogs.

"Fascinating, interesting, poignant and… useful, especially for me, who grew up in a Russified environment and switched to Ukrainian at a conscious age! It's as if many years ago at school I was introduced to the language THAT way…
My teenage daughter is also delighted :)
Thank you very much and we look forward to the workbook for this book!"

Interesting fact

Someone stole a copy of the book from the Book Arsenal in Kyiv. I realized that people should have the opportunity to read it for free, because not everyone can pay for it. Especially in our time.

So I started a collection. We managed to collect 228 copies of the book. Wonderful volunteers helped with the delivery. Photo reports can be found on their social media pages:
